Innovation is the new buzzword. Companies like to talk about it and these are certainly not all empty talks. Sample this: the number of patent applications in the country has more than doubled — from less than 13,000 in 2003-04 to about 29,000 in 2006-07, Although India still has a long way to go, yet domestic companies are realising it is innovation that provides the competitive advantage. It means organisation have to provide an enabling environment that can encourage and nurture ideas within.
